For 50 years, Fat Cat Comics has been part of the Southern Tier's comic book community, bringing together generations of readers, collectors, and fans.
What began in 1976 has grown alongside the hobby itself. Through changing eras of comics, new generations of collectors, and countless Wednesday releases, Fat Cat has remained a place where people can discover something new, track down an old favorite, and share their enthusiasm for the stories and collectibles they love.
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2026, we're proud of the history behind us and excited about what's still ahead. The shop may have changed over the years, but the goal remains the same: keep comics fun, accessible, and rooted in the community.

A lifelong passion for comics and community.
Meet Drew Pickett, the proud owner of Fat Cat Comics and a lifelong comic book enthusiast whose passion for storytelling and illustration runs deep. Drew’s love for the heroes, villains, and universes that define the comic world inspires everything we do at Fat Cat Comics. His vision is simple: to create a welcoming, community-driven space where fans of all ages can share their appreciation for the art, history, and culture of comics.
Under Drew’s leadership, Fat Cat Comics has become more than just a store. It’s a hub for collectors, creators, and families alike. Drew continues to strengthen community ties by hosting the Fat Cat Comic & Toy Show, a free-admission event that brings together vendors, artists, and fans for a day of connection, discovery, and nostalgia right here in Johnson City, NY.

Jenn
Keeping Fat Cat Comics moving.
If you’ve spent time at Fat Cat Comics, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Jenn keeping things moving around the shop. While she’s a familiar face behind the register, her role extends well beyond helping customers check out.
Jenn helps handle the day-to-day flow of the store by packing outgoing online orders, receiving incoming packages, and stocking the shelves with new merchandise. From getting orders ready to head out the door to helping make sure new arrivals get where they belong, she plays an important part in keeping Fat Cat organized and ready for customers.
Whether she’s behind the register, opening up the latest delivery, filling the shelves, or packing an order for a customer online, Jenn helps keep Fat Cat Comics moving.

Web Development & Digital Support
Not everyone helping Fat Cat works behind the counter.
Josh volunteers his time and professional experience to develop and maintain the Fat Cat Comics website and support the shop's growing digital presence. What started as helping a local comic shop with its website has evolved into finding new ways to connect Fat Cat's 50 years of history with what comes next.
From website updates and event coverage to new online features and newsletters, Josh works behind the scenes to give customers more ways to interact with Fat Cat while preserving the personality of the neighborhood comic shop.
He isn't an employee, and you're never going to find him behind the register. He's just the guy behind the screen helping Drew turn “I have an idea…” into something that works.
